The semester kicks off with Fitness Kickoff

The Fitness Kickoff is a free event held every semester at BYU-Idaho. The event provides interested students an opportunity to meet the fitness activities instructors and kick off their semester fitness goals.

The Fitness Kickoff will begin at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. The event will be located inside the main gym on the second floor of the John W. Hart Building.

This event will feature 17 instructors. Each instructor will lead two different workouts for the duration of a song for their fitness style. A few of the styles featured will include kickboxing, step, high fitness, yoga and Zumba. This semester’s event also features a New Year’s theme.

“This winter semester, we’re trying to focus on New Year’s goals,” said Lisa Robison, the campus recreation activities advisor. “It’ll be kind of like a New Year’s Eve party with balloons all around to create a welcoming and exciting environment.”

The primary goal of the event is to help educate students on how to sign up for free weekly fitness classes held throughout the semester.

Robison hopes the variety of styles presented at the kickoff will help students figure out which instructors and fitness classes they would like to follow and attend to begin working toward their fitness goals and other resolutions.

“I picture it as more of a concert,” Robison said. “Instead of standing in the crowd, singing with an artist, you’ll be kickboxing and stepping with the instructor. We hope everyone will grab their roommates and come have a fun concert night.”

Students wanting to attend the Fitness Kickoff can sign up on I-Belong.
